MessageGate Updates E-Mail Risk Management Products

Activity Profile 3.0 gives companies real-time auditing capabilities; Policy Enforcement 5.0 helps companies ensure compliance

MessageGate this week released new versions of two e-mail risk management products: MessageGate Activity Profile (MAP) 3.0 and MessageGate Policy Enforcement 5.0.

MAP 3.0 lets users audit their company's e-mail use in real-time through a Web-based interface. The product analyzes internal, outbound, and inbound e-mails using pre-included e-mail policies (or users can customize their own policies). Administrators are alerted whenever these policies are violated and are given access to the suspected e-mails.

According to MessageGate, a further advantage of using MAP 3.0 is that the e-mail analysis can occur within the enterprise itself, unlike other solutions that may require the analysis to be performed off-site. MAP 3.0 can perform audits within "the live e-mail stream," the company said.

"MAP 3.0 enables organizations to better manage the e-mail controls process by first determining the problem, and then actively addressing security and archive policy management," said MessageGate president and CEO Norbeth Orth in a prepared statement. "As IT departments continue to face fluctuating budgets in a challenging environment, the availability of a Web-based activity profile empowers them to efficiently and cost-effectively analyze e-mail usage trends in real-time, streamlining the risk management process."

The company has also released MessageGate Policy Enforcement 5.0, an e-mail risk management platform that uses "complex policy actions" to re-route, queue or block messages. This helps companies maintain compliance with both company and federal regulations. The latest version includes support for Exchange 2007.
