Lumigent Debuts AppGRC Suite

New suite is designed to assist companies in governance, risk and compliance control

Lumigent Technologies Inc. recently debuted AppGRC, a suite designed for governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) control for business apps. The suite's first two applications are AppGRC for PeopleSoft Financials and AppGRC for Deltek Costpoint, with others to follow.

According to the company, the AppGRC suite is designed for companies that run Sybase, SQL Server, Oracle, or IBM DB2 databases that want to improve the integrity of business operations and application reporting. The suite's applications first identify sensitive data and its relevance to business process. It then assesses control objectives -- whether and how they're met. Next, it monitors "key controls and supporting data at the source," generates reports, and, when necessary, takes preventative steps against possible security vulnerabilities.

"Simply put, we watch data," said Lumigent chairman John H. Capobianco in a prepared statement. "When data changes exceed our policy ad control values, we issue an alert. It's a simple process, but the way we do it demands deep technical and subject matter expertise. We're not just monitoring the controls; we are the controls. And we capture every single change to the source data we monitor, no matter who or what initiates it."

The AppGRC suite features reporting templates, a "complete audit trail," a command-line interface and baselining capabilities.
