Embarcadero Technologies has released Embarcadero RAD Studio XE, a suite of development tools including new versions of Delphi, C++Builder, Delphi Prism, and RadPHP XE. The new “2011” release, known as RAD Studio XE, offers new capabilities to improve application performance, streamline the development process, and accelerate the time it takes to build ultra-fast, native Windows, .NET, and Web applications.

This release marks the extension of the new XE brand and capability set to Embarcadero’s application development line, including RAD Studio and each standalone tool in the suite. XE products are distinguished by three key components: support for multiple database types and deployment environments, Embarcadero ToolCloud technology for centralized license management and on-demand tool access, and an easy upgrade path to Embarcadero All-Access XE.

Key enhancements specific to the new XE releases of Delphi and C++Builder include:

  • New cloud capabilities that allow developers to interact with cloud computing environments. Users can create applications that access Microsoft Windows Azure platform storage services (blob, queue, and table services). Developers can also easily deploy server applications with "push-button deploy" to the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) environment and access them from multiple types of thin-client applications.

  • An expanded, multi-tier framework for added development flexibility. The enhanced DataSnap framework gives developers more options for building multi-tier applications with the ability to build servers with both C++Builder and Delphi, new wizards for creating server applications and client modules, and support for JavaScript, REST, and HTTP and HTTPS transport protocols.

  • A new integrated set of tools for testing, performance profiling, build automation, and QA enables developers to streamline their development processes so they can spend less time managing and more time coding. New tools include a difference engine from Scooter Software’s Beyond Compare, performance profiling and memory/resource debugging with integrated SmartBear Software’s AQtime, integrated logging of source code for deeper insight into code execution with Raize CodeSite, and Internet application development with advanced IP communications protocols with the /n Software IP*Works component suite.

  • New version control capabilities with Subversion integration makes it easier for developers to manage source code revisions for their own code or among their team, and works in the Delphi, C++Builder, and Delphi Prism IDEs.

Visual Web development for PHP has been added to the RAD Studio product family in the form of RadPHP XE. RadPHP XE offers developers a completely integrated, rapid visual development environment and component framework for PHP and Facebook application development.

Delphi Prism XE also brings a new set of capabilities and features to RAD Studio users. The most notable is cross-platform .NET development support for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. Integrated Subversion version control, an updated Visual Studio Shell 2010-based IDE, and support for the latest versions of .NET and Silverlight are also new to Delphi Prism in RAD Studio XE.

RAD Studio XE, Delphi XE, C++Builder XE, Delphi Prism XE and RadPHP XE are available now. More information is available at www.embarcadero.com/products/application-development. Trial versions can be downloaded from www.embarcadero.com/downloads.
