I/Net Delivers Netscape Server Software to AS/400

AS/400 customers now have the means to take advantage of Netscape Communications Corp.'s Web server software for deploying large-scale Web sites. Thanks to an agreement between I/Net Inc. (Kalamazoo, Mich.) and Netscape, I/Net announces it will make the Web server software available immediately to the AS/400 market.

"We are exhilarated," says I/Net President and CEO Stephen Markee, in a company press release. "Our developers have worked closely with their counterparts at Netscape and IBM to bring this product to the AS/400 marketplace. The architecture of the AS/400, which makes it the pre-eminent business computer for secure Web serving, provides an excellent platform to deploy the Netscape Enterprise Server."

Under its licensing agreement with Netscape, I/Net, which also acquired distribution rights to this product, will offer Netscape Enterprise Server through IBM Industry Remarketers.

"Netscape Enterprise Server is highly scalable and reliable Web server software that enables organizations to build mission-critical Internet sites that help transform their business from a traditional company with brick-and-mortar assets to an Internet business as compay.com," says Maneesh Dhir, VP and general manager of the Netscape Application Platform and Managed Content Division.
