Lakeview Releases MIMIX FastPath for AS/400

Lakeview Technology (Oak Brook, Ill.), a leading supplier of clustering and data management availability solutions, recently announced the release of FastPath, the latest addition to its MIMIX family of products for AS/400.
The new solution, available for AS/400 independent software vendors (ISVs) and AS/400 customers with custom applications, provides tools and services for implementing a clustering environment without requiring extensive modifications to the application code. According to an IBM representative, such solutions to facilitate clustering represent a response to a growing user demand.
“IBM believes clustering is an important requirement in the market and the demand is growing at a steady rate,” said Elaine Case, program director, ParnterWorld for Developers, AS/400. “The opportunity we see is having ISVs adopt the technology in a rapid manner. Lakeview’s MIMIX FastPath provides a quick and easy way to achieve this functionality in a much shorter time and delivers real value to the market.”
Currently, clustering involves modifying application code to work with specific APIs in OS/400 V4R4, a procedure that requires expertise in high availability. In conjunction with MIMIX FastPath, Lakeview Technology makes this expertise available to customers seeking to gain IBM’s ClusterReady or ClusterProven status. Consultants work with the application provider to develop a clustering implementation plan based on customers’ specific needs. Once created to specifications, the solution can be deployed in an AS/400 cluster using any AS/400 high-availability replication services and any cluster manager.
MIMIX FastPath’s features include the Application Cluster Enabler (ACE), an integrated software tool used to analyze an application and create ClusterProven-compliant cluster elements, and Application Cluster Template (ACT), which enables the application to interface with the OS/400. It also features MIMIX FastPath Services and FastPath Support for additional assistance and information.
