PentaSafe Security Technologies Acquires BrainTree Security Software

PentaSafe Security Technologies, a developer of IT auditing and security software, has acquired privately held BrainTree Security Software. BrainTree Security Software is an international developer of Oracle, Sybase and SQL Server database security software solutions. This acquisition supports PentaSafe's strategy to offer its customers a broad portfolio of security solutions across all facets of their IT operations.

Based just outside Boston, BrainTree will be integrated into PentaSafe's global operations. All of BrainTree's employees will join the PentaSafe team, forming a satellite office in Boston. PentaSafe expects to integrate BrainTree's technology into its VigilEnt Security Management Solution within the next few months.

Doug Erwin, President and CEO of PentaSafe, notes that, "Over the past year, IT security has grown beyond protecting servers, workstations and operating systems. With the addition of BrainTree's product line, PentaSafe is now able to extend our audit, detect and secure technologies deep into the very core of today's business - the database ... this acquisition allows us to immediately offer our customers a broad, robust security solution."

BrainTree provides relational database security solutions for Internet and client/server applications. With the rapid growth of business-to-business e-commerce, companies must implement security at several levels within their computing architecture, including the database. BrainTree's product suite provides enhanced authentication, access control, auditing, policy management and administration for databases within existing environments as well as those being opened up to e-business.

PentaSafe is based in Houston and has offices in Oklahoma City, Buenos Aires, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London and Paris. The company currently provides security management for Windows NT/2000, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Linux and IBM AS/400.
