IBM Expands Web-Hosting Services
Earlier this week, IBM unveiled 30 new Web-hosting services intended to meet growing market demand. Half of the 30 new fully managed services deal with security on the Web. These services include:
- Security health check services, including "ethical hacking."
- Firewall construction and management.
- Intrusion detection.
- Virus alert monitoring.
IBM is also introducing e-commerce and Linux-based services. The WebSphere Commerce Suite Pro is intended to help small- and medium-sized companies set up a Web-based catalog system or other forms of e-commerce. The package includes Web domain and address services, server, network and backup and restoration services. Also, IBM is adding Linux to the list of core operating systems that it supports in its e-business Hosting Centers.
