Panopticon Software has released version 5.3 of its popular Panopticon EX visual data analytics software. The new version allows rapid deployment at the workgroup or enterprise level and allows users to visualize data from virtually any source, including real-time streaming feeds.
Panopticon EX 5.3 incorporates support for a range of new data visualizations, including multi-level pie charts (also called sunbursts or radial treemaps), dot plots for analyzing comparative data sets, and an upgraded heat matrix, a variant of the heat map useful when looking for correlations in linear data. The new release also includes a number of changes to the user interface to make it easier to implement and learn and improvements to the way data visualizations are displayed on the screen.
The system allows users to develop multi-tabbed, multi-visualization executive dashboards that utilize data from relational database sources such as DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, and Microsoft Excel. Users can combine columns of data from disparate sources and join them in their dashboards as well as generate new calculated columns. The software also allows connection to real-time streaming feeds; users tie data from all available data resources into a single visual data analytics system.
Typical applications for Panopticon EX in financial services include:
- Algorithmic trading monitoring
- Equity analysis
- Portfolio attribution, performance and risk monitoring and analysis
- Pre-trade analytics
- Trader performance monitoring
In addition, the software is widely used to support business intelligence and data analysis requirements in pharmaceutical research, consumer packaged goods (CPG), health care, industrial manufacturing, and telecommunications.
Willem De Geer, managing director of Panopticon, said, "This new version of our EX product incorporates the recent advances we made in visual analytics and data handling as implemented in our developer SDK. EX is built using the same SDK we make available to our customers for tight integration into existing enterprise applications. As we continue development of the SDK, we make that new technology available in our EX system for customers who need a product they can roll out and start using very quickly.
