Kroll Ontrack, an information management, data recovery, and legal technology products and services provider, has updated Ontrack PowerControls to version 6.1. This enhancement supports Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010, giving users the ability to open and read SharePoint 2010 data and connect to SharePoint 2010 targets. From recovery and restoration to migration and consolidation, Ontrack PowerControls 6.1 provides complete support for the SharePoint Server 2007 and 2010 environment, in addition to complete support for Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, 2000, 2003, 2007 and 2010.
Ontrack PowerControls 6.1 can:
- Open and read SharePoint 2010 sources and connect to SharePoint 2010 targets. Users can conduct granular search and restoration on SharePoint Server 2010 data; administrators can respond to internal requests faster and meet internal service-level agreements and recovery objectives with greater ease.
- Manage dissimilar source and target restoration. Ontrack PowerControls 6.1 permits users to address mixed media, supporting both SharePoint Server 2007 and SharePoint Server 2010 file formats. As businesses begin to migrate some or all of their data to SharePoint 2010, this functionality is critical to managing both systems simultaneously.
- Search multiple file formats. With Ontrack PowerControls 6.1, users can search their SharePoint environment for Microsoft Office 2007 and Office 2010 file extensions, .doc and .docx, and view the files in the search field. As businesses upgrade their working environments to include new versions of Microsoft Office, the ability to search across multiple file formats will be key to accessing and restoring all of their files.
- Operate within the Microsoft SharePoint Support Policy. Ontrack PowerControls 6.1 meets the Microsoft-specific support guidelines for third-party interoperability, ensuring Ontrack PowerControls 6.1 can address SharePoint server recovery, consolidation or migration needs without violating terms-of-service.
