Infosys, AWS Smooth Migration of Legacy ERP and Mainframe Apps to Cloud

Enterprises looking to move legacy workloads such as ERP or mainframe applications to the modern cloud will find help from Infosys Ltd., which has entered into a strategic alliance with Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS), the leading cloud computing provider.

"Together, Infosys and AWS will enable clients to move enterprise workloads including mainframe and enterprise resource planning (ERP) to the AWS Cloud," Infosys said in a statement last week. "Infosys will also leverage AWS's offerings around analytics to provide deep, actionable insights and enable enterprises to gain competitive advantage in their industries. Infosys will also support enterprises in their transition from legacy technologies to the modern, innovative AWS Cloud."

Infosys will provide a suite of technologies hosted on AWS, focusing on: workload migration solutions (such as SAP and other enterprise workloads); services to modernize complex mainframe and legacy workloads; and solutions centered on data and analytics, such as hybrid cloud analytics and analytics as a service.

"By collaborating with AWS, Infosys can help organizations realize the full potential of the AWS cloud without being weighed down by a daunting onboarding process," said Infosys exec Sandeep Dadlani in a statement last week. "The migration to a modern, high-performance and scalable infrastructure built on AWS will be faster, easier and more cost-effective than ever before."

The multi-faceted alliance will also see Infosys providing a dedicated AWS Cloud Center of Excellence intersecting with all of the company's service lines, employing thousands of AWS-trained and AWS-certified resources targeting AWS' services.

"AWS works with many large, complex enterprise organizations that are looking to transform their business by leveraging the AWS Cloud," said AWS exec Mike Clayville. "The strategic collaboration with Infosys will help accelerate these organizations' legacy workload migrations to the cloud by empowering them to rapidly achieve the agility benefits of moving to AWS. Customers will now have more streamlined access to several innovative cloud computing solutions that stand to transform and modernize their enterprise."
