Acronis Updates Backup Solution for Complex Enterprise Environments

Acronis says legacy backup solutions don't cut it in the new-age enterprise world, where data and other assets are digitized and spread over complex environments that include physical and virtual systems hosted on-premises, in the cloud or across myriad mobile devices.

To address that complexity, the hybrid cloud data protection specialist yesterday announced Acronis Backup 12

"With most business assets now being digital and not confined to a single device or location, businesses need a backup solution that is designed to provide complete data protection to support this new way of operating," the company said in a statement yesterday.

The Burlington, Mass., company claims its new backup solution can be installed in only three clicks and boasts 2x faster performance than competing products, capable of the "world's fastest restore in 15 seconds or less."

Acronis said its updated backup tool:

• Delivers cloud and on-premise data protection for small and medium-sized business, providing a unified Web console to back up and recover all individual workloads.
• Includes Acronis Instant Restore, which reduces RTOs to 15 seconds or less by running any physical or virtual Windows or Linux system backup as a VMware or Hyper-V virtual machine (VM).
• Backs up on-premises physical and virtual systems, as well as Microsoft Azure VMs and Amazon EC2 instances for complete protection of entire IT infrastructures.
• Protects VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V hosts hosts (not just VMs) and recovers them to dissimilar hardware for complete protection of your virtual infrastructure.
• Protects every user by backing up Windows PCs and tablets, Mac computers, iPads, iPhones, and any Android devices.
• Provides complete control over the location of data, systems and backups -- ensuring companies always know where their data is, even if it's stored in the cloud
