IBM Announces Billion-Byte PC Drive
IBM has developed a 25-GB PC hard drive, about three times larger than the biggest drives now shipping in consumer PCs.
The 25-GB drive, known as the Deskstar 25GP, will be available in IBM, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard and Micron Electronics PCs by Christmas. A business version of the new drive, the 22-GB Deskstar 22GXP, will have a faster response time and be targeted to video editors, engineers and scientists.
The drives will be available to distributors and resellers by the first quarter, next year.
