Intentia Announces Java-Based ERP
Intentia International, a Swedish-based developer of Enterprise Resource Planning applications, announced its Movex Version 11 Java-based ERP package is now available for IBM’s AS/400e users.
“Our success in the market can be directly attributed to the depth and flexibility of Movex and the strong performance of IBM's AS/400e series,” Bjorn Algkvist said in a published statement. Algkvist, CEO and President of Intentia International, went on to say, “We will continue to invest in development on the AS/400e platform because we are convinced this strategy will enable us to sustain our leadership in this market well into the next millennium.”
Having developed an ERP package written entirely in Java, Intentia finds itself taking the ERP market in a new direction. According to published reports, a study by the Framingham, Mass.-based consulting firm International Data Corp. (IDC) shows the number of U.S. companies using Java grew by 11 percentage points -- from 35 percent to 46 percent -- in just three months. IDC also predicts that 60 percent of Internet applications will be created with Java by the end of 1998.
