CA Acquires Services Company LDA
Continuing to beef up its services business, Computer Associates Int'l Inc. acquired LDA Systems Inc., a 300-person consulting firm based in Cleveland. The unit will be integrated into CA's Global Professional Services (GPS) division.
The deal follows the late summer acquisition of ReaLogic Inc., another Cleveland-based services consulting company with 350 employees. The acquisitions are part of CA's program to expand its services business. The effort received its highest profile when CA launched an unsuccessful bid to acquire Computer Sciences Corp. (www.csc.com). The LDA acquisition brings strategic consulting and technical expertise in midrange platforms, and a large client following from the manufacturing, banking, communications and government markets.
The purchase also gives GPS access to LDA's specialty consulting practices in Lotus Notes, data warehouse and e-commerce solutions. LDA's clients will benefit from GPS's support in vertical markets with system software.
CA says it will keep all of LDA's employees and will keep the LDA facility in Cleveland and its offices in Cincinnati, Atlanta and Columbus, Ohio.
