CSC Ports PharmIQ to Windows NT

Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC, www.csc.com) ported its PharmIQ data warehousing offering, which is specific to the life sciences industry, to Windows NT.

The integration, support and consulting company selected Microsoft Corp.’s SQL Server 7.0 database and Data General Corp.’s (www.dg.com) AViiON AV 8700 server and CLARiiON fibre channel storage system for the solution.

PharmIQ is designed for pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies. The solution provides a gateway to sales, marketing and contract data and is based on a standard set of analytical tools and a shared data repository and technical infrastructure.

The announcement was one of dozens surrounding the Comdex Fall launch of SQL Server 7.0. Other systems integrators offering vertical solutions built on Windows NT and SQL Server 7.0 include Unisys Corp., with a banking application, and Data General, which offers a medical data warehouse application for patient information. Both companies gave demonstrations at Comdex of their solutions, each with more than a terabyte of data.
