Prophet 21 Plans AS/400 Port

Prophet 21 Inc. (Yardley, Pa.) has announced plans to port its Prophet 21 Wholesale solution, previously known as Servent, to the AS/400 this spring.

Prophet 21 Wholesale, now available on Unix and Windows NT, offers function for order and inventory management, purchasing, financials, and shipping and receiving. The AS/400 version will be a complete 64-bit version of the software, intended for small- and medium-sized businesses and departments of larger enterprises. It will run natively on the DB2 UDB for AS/400 database and incorporate AS/400 administration functions.

"The deployment of Prophet 21 Wholesale on the AS/400e can reduce implementation and systems management complexities using the combination of Prophet 21 Wholesale's Order Management Control Center and the AS/400's technologically integrated computer platform," says Neil Jaffe, VP of development at Prophet 21.

"Prophet 21 Wholesale running on AS/400e will allow customers to rapidly deploy a completely integrated solution to help manage their wholesale and distribution businesses," says Debra Thompson, VP, AS/400 enterprise servers at IBM. "Customers in the wholesale and distribution industry now have another choice to meet their enterprise computing needs."
