Inprise, SystemObjects Strengthen AS/400 Partnership
Inprise Corp. (Scotts Valley, Calif.) and SystemObjects Corp. (New York) have inked a global licensing agreement that will call for SystemObjects to further develop, support and market Inprise's Windows-based visual development tools for the AS/400.
SystemObjects, which engineers AS/400 development tools and middleware, already helps develop Inprise's Delphi/400 and C++Builder/400 visual development tools. Its French parent company, TCIS, designed the ClientObjects/400 middleware for those tools. Under this new agreement, SystemObjects assumes the future development, maintenance and marketing of Delphi/400 and C++Builder/400 internationally.
Later this year, SystemObjects plans a Java development solution for the AS/400, based on Inprise's JBuilder.
"Inprise is a leader in the market of visual development tools," says Serge Charbit, CEO and president of SystemObjects. "This agreement puts us in a strong position to take advantage of the high market growth in this sector and ensure customers get the right mix of the best development tools with the highest quality support and product enhancement.
"The AS/400's acknowledged strengths of ease-of-use and reliability mean that it is gaining more and more market share, especially as an e-commerce and ERP server. Our VARs and partners network are demanding leading visual RAD tools like Delphi/400 to build AS/400 client/server applications."
Gidi Schmidt, VP of Europe for Inprise, says Inprise is "confident that new and existing customers will continue to receive the highest quality support and product development for the Inprise AS/400 tools."
