CopyPoint Extends EMC Business Continuity For AS/400
EMC Corp. (Hopkinton, Mass.) has announced the release of EMC CopyPoint Software, a product designed to extend the connectivity and flexibility of the company's Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems. With CopyPoint, EMC hopes to extend its business continuity capabilities to AS/400 environments.
CopyPoint enables AS/400 systems to read secondary copies of production system data and allows customers to take advantage of EMC’s business continuity software -- EMC TimeFinder and Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF).
"The ability to conduct business around the clock has become essential to compete in today's global marketplace," says Bob Dutkowsky, EMC's executive VP of markets and channels. "Customers can now rely on EMC Enterprise Storage to further leverage their AS/400 information resources and ensure that planned procedures and potential interruptions do not hinder revenue generation options."
CopyPoint software is designed to enable "virtually uninterrupted 24-hour by seven-day production-level support" for an enterprise, while enabling backup protection and other operational background functions with minimal disruption, according to published reports.
