HP And Red Hat To Provide Enterprise-management To Mutual Linux Customers

HP is staking a claim as the first-to-market provider of an enterprise-management solution for Linux with its announcement of June availability of Linux support through HP OpenView IT/Operations (ITO) network-management solution.

HP OpenView ITO’s full support for Linux will expand management capabilities for heterogeneous enterprise environments by allowing users to can manage Linux-based nodes as part of a mission-critical IT environment. In addition to the June availability of HP OpenView ITO for Linux, HP OpenView OmniBack, HP's storage-management solution, is expected to offer Linux support by late summer.

Earlier this year, HP and Red Hat formed an alliance to provide end-to-end service and support for HP customers. HP also has ported its NetServer system line to the Red Hat Linux platform. Pricing is based on the HP OpenView ITO agent-tiering model and is available by contacting an HP OpenView reseller or representative.
