REAL Applications to combine AS/400 with Lotus Domino for e-business solutions

REAL Applications Ltd. (Woodland Hills, Calif.) announced a new dedicated service practice that combines IBM’s AS/400e series servers with native Lotus Domino to deliver strong e-business solutions to small and medium-sized businesses. The REAL Applications dedicated IBM services practice is a result of a program IBM recently launched, PartnerWorld.

The new practice will concentrate on the Web-enablement of existing applications, e-mail conversion to Lotus Domino and the ability to consolidate multiple NT servers to a single AS/400 server running Domino for AS/400.

“IBM’s full line of services, and especially the AS/400, is an ideal platform for companies within the [small medium-sized business] market as they migrate to e-business,” says David A. Wolf, CFO of REAL. “Lotus Domino is a truly open solution that can interface and work with a variety of IBM and non-IBM platforms and, at the same time, can grow with a company’s expanding needs.”

REAL will leverage its existing AS/400 and other IBM platform expertise with Lotus Domino and will focus on the primary areas: Web-enablement of existing applications and systems in SMB firms with more than 300 employees; OfficeVision/400 and cc:Mail-to-Domino migration; and Domino on Windows NT consolidation to AS/400 servers.

“This dedicated software practice will allow REAL to provide a total hardware, software and services solution for its large customer base,” says Ian Bonner, VP of marketing, IBM Global Business Partners. “Small and medium sized businesses are rapidly expanding into the e-business market to service their customers. IBM’s PartnerWorld is designed to help businesses quickly capture this growing opportunity.”
