Trend Micro introduces Lotus Notes virus software for AS/400
For many large corporations, computer viruses can prove to be very costly, wiping out important data and disrupting workflow. These viruses are increasingly being spread through e-mail, as a recent report said that over 80 percent of viruses today are spread through e-mail and groupware attachments. With that in mind, Trend Micro Inc. (Cupertino, Calif.) recently announced availability of ScanMail for Lotus Notes V1.8, a Lotus Notes virus protection software for the AS/400.
ScanMail gives large enterprises running Lotus Notes/Domino on AS/400 servers a high-performance, scalable solution for keeping viruses out of the Notes environment. It protects Notes databases and mail from Internet and e-mail borne viruses and also seamlessly integrates with the AS/400 platform.
“IBM AS/400 is increasingly being used by large organizations because of its high reliability,” says Brian McElroy, ScanMail for Lotus Notes Product Manager. “Since security is a top concern for IBM AS/400 users, we’re proud to be providing the first virus protection software developed for this heavy duty environment.”
A native Notes application, ScanMail for Lotus Notes AS/400 detects and cleans viruses from Notes mail, shared databases, and during Notes replication so administrators can be assured that all possible points of infection are being tightly monitored and protected. Some additional features include: detection and removal of known and unknown macro viruses on the fly; customizable warnings of virus infections to senders, recipients and administrators; and provides remote management from any Notes workstation or browser.
