Sterling Commerce Brings 128-bit Encryption to CONNECT
Recognizing the need to provide added security for the e-commerce market, Sterling Commerce (Dallas) announced it received approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce to export its CONNECT solutions with highly secure, 128-bit encryption. With this industry standard Internet security, important information can be protected and transmitted worldwide over the Internet.
"There was a large customer base that wanted this solution," says Grace Mayer, director of industry relations for Sterling Commerce. "The 128-bit encryption gives customers peace of mind that their data is secure."
Customers will be able to take advantage of the 128-bit encryption capabilities when Secure FTP option for CONNECT:Mailbox and Secure+ Option for CONNECT:Direct become available in August as added components to those products.
The AS/400 is one of the platforms that the CONNECT suite of products runs on. The CONNECT family of products provides an e-commerce infrastructure by delivering communications and systems management software solutions for Internet data exchange, extranet systems management, remote and mobile computing and advanced file transfer.
"Connect provides customers the capabilities to implement the appropriate level of security required for transmitting sensitive, or business critical information--while extending their e-commerce infrastructures using the Internet," says Steve Perkins, executive VP of Sterling Commerce and president of the Communications Software Group. "The approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce allows Sterling Commerce to better serve their customers as they compete in international markets around the world."
