Wall Data Releases RUMBA Support for Citrix, MS Terminal Server
Wall Data Inc. has announced the availability of RUMBA 2000 for Citrix and Terminal Server, allowing users in a server-based environment to work with legacy host applications and data from their Windows desktops. By optimizing RUMBA 2000, Wall Data is hoping to facilitate improved productivity while reducing the total cost of ownership through centralized administration and concurrent licensing.
RUMBA 2000 is available for AS/400, S/390, HP and Unix users in multi-host and single-host connectivity solutions. The AS/400 edition is priced at $1,250 for five concurrent licenses.
"RUMBA is the only host access product that has been extensively optimized for a server-based computing infrastructure," says Kevin Vitale, president of the RUMBA business at Wall Data. "Using RUMBA 2000 for Citrix and Terminal Server, our customers gain feature-rich host-access technology and better performance, as well as cost-effective, reliable and easy thin client deployments."
According to Wall Data, RUMBA 2000 for Citrix and Terminal Server contains patent-pending features including TP Director for mainframe and AS/400, a feature designed to enhance the communication functionality within a server-based environment to enable more efficient and better managed data transfer between a host and client. In addition, non-critical interface elements such as animation have been removed to help deliver improved host access performance for remote users with low bandwidth connections. The product also allows administrators to set up user profiles on the server that personalize the RUMBA interface and configuration for individuals or groups.
