HP (Canada) Ltd. announced that it is the number 1 vendor in the overall UNIX system server market in Canada for the third consecutive year. According to an annual countrywide market study -- 1999 Canadian Server Market & Trends -- released by Toronto-based industry-research firm IDC Canada, HP had a 31 percent market share, based on revenue, in 1998.
Another recent IDC Canada report -- Worldwide Quarterly Server Tracker, which is a quarterly report on the Canadian server marketplace of the previous calendar quarter -- stated that HP's overall UNIX system market share grew from 31 percent in 1998 to 33 percent in the first quarter of 1999.
