Minolta and Axis Join Forces For Network Digital Printing
Minolta Corp. and Axis Communications Inc. are joining forces to bring a cost effective, flexible solution for printing from IBM mainframe and midrange computers to Minolta's Digital Printer/Copiers and Desktop Laser Printers.
The solution supports local network printing as well as mainframe and midrange host printing through the LAN. In addition, it does not require making any host application changes.
IBM environments supported include the AS/400, S/370, S/390, 30XX, 43XX, 47XX, 937XX, 81XX and compatibles. The printing solution for the AS/400 is currently available.
According to Anne Nason, director of corporate marketing for Axis Communications, the alliance with Minolta continues a growing trend for Axis. "Network digital printing is a relatively new market for Axis, but one that we have been vigorously pursuing," she says. "Although we have agreements with other print solution companies, we decided to partner with Minolta because they have been very pro-active in determining their networking strategy."
Initially, the following Minolta printer/copiers will be supported: DIALTA Di620 Digital Black and White Printer/Copier, a 62 ppm device with optional advanced finishing capabilities; DiALTA Di520 Digital Black and White Printer/Copier, a 52 ppm device with optional advanced finishing capabilities; PageWorks 25, a 25 ppm monochrome desktop laser printer; and Color PageWorks, a three ppm color, 12 ppm monochrome desktop color laser printer.
