DataMirror Signs Distribution Agreement with Avnet

By Jim Martin

In an attempt to broaden the market for its enterprise data integration solutions, DataMirror (Toronto, Ont.) recently signed a distribution agreement with Avnet Computer (Tempe, Ariz.), a technology solutions integrator that deploys hardware, software and services across the enterprise.

Under terms of the agreement, Avnet will market and sell the entire line of DataMirror’s software family products throughout North America.

According to Data Mirror, the agreement will strengthen its ability to reach customers requiring enterprise data integration solutions for their UNIX, Microsoft Windows NT, IBM AS/400 and MVS through Avnet’s North American branches. “We view this as a way to further distribute our products to a broader market,” says Brett Calder, senior product marketing manager at Data Mirror.

The distribution agreement comes at a time when the enterprise data integration market is gaining momentum. “As the market for Enterprise Information Management evolves, the need for software that can integrate data from a complete range of databases and computing platforms is critical, particularly in the area of Internet infrastructure,” says Nigel Stokes, chairman, CEO, and president of DataMirror Corp. “Avnet Computer’s impressive scope and proven track record of success will be of benefit to our customers as they implement central data management, distributed data access, business intelligence and electronic commerce. We see Avnet Computer as a key business partner as we position ourselves to take advantage of the enormous opportunity for Enterprise Information Management solutions.”
