Continuing its efforts to push the AS/400 as an e-business platform, IBM has teamed up with SynQuest (New Orleans), with the announcement of an advanced planning and scheduling e-business solution.
The solution for the AS/400 is SynQuest Manufacturing Manager Software, a component of the SynQuest Supply Chain Performance Series. Designed to integrate operational planning and execution across a supply chain, SynQuest Manufacturing Manager Software is expected to be available sometime in the first quarter of 2000.
“It’s another major step in clearly establishing AS/400 as a premier e-business platform capable of delivering world-class solutions for the supply chain,” says Tom Jarosh, general manager, IBM AS/400 business. “We are pleased to be working with leading advanced planning and scheduling companies like SynQuest to deliver the industry’s best manufacturing management and execution solutions to AS/400 customers.”
The SynQuest Manufacturing Manager software will be supported by IBM Global Services implementation and integration services. IBM Global financing will provide financial options for the entire solution.
“We expect this solution to help AS/400 customers achieve new levels of performance and productivity,” says Chris Jones, senior VP of marketing and development at SynQuest. “It will allow mid-sized to large AS/400 customers to reduce cycle times, inventory and work-in process, as well as provide a way to link suppliers via the Internet and improved e-business performance. We are excited about the prospects of this relationship with IBM.”
