CYBRA Adds GUI Capabilities

By Jim Martin

CYBRA Corp. (Yonkers, N.Y.) has announced the release of JMagic Label and Forms Designer, a graphical client to MarkMagic/400 Bar Code Label and SM@RT Forms Software for the AS/400.

Written in Java, JMagic allows MarkMagic/400 users to design bar code labels on any PC with a Java Virtual Machine and a TCP/IP connection to an AS/400.

JMagic was developed “to meet the e-business needs of AS/400 companies,” says Harold Brand, president of CYBRA. “Whether a customer’s e-business involves direct sales or business to business, JMagic will help them design and print shipping labels that comply with shippers such as UPS, or EDI compliance marking mandate.”

Currently in beta testing, JMagic is scheduled for general availability in January 2000. “The beauty of the product is that all the customer needs is a TCP/IP connection to their AS/400 and JMagic takes over,” says Brand. “Signing on to the AS/400, establishing the conversation with the host servers, and presenting a WYSIWYG canvas on which to design the label or form.”
