Keane Acquires AS/400-based Information Systems Company

Looking to enhance its AS/400 capabilities, Keane Inc. (Boston), a $1 billion firm that specializes in helping companies plan, build, and manage software to achieve business advantage, has entered into an agreement to acquire First Coast Systems Inc. (Jacksonville, Fla.).
First Coast offers a range of AS/400-based information systems and services for the healthcare industry. Its main product is the Advanced Patient Care Delivery Systems (APaCS) package, which gives the participant provider access to a patient’s clinical record at the point of care and to organize it on a real-time basis.
Keane will be combining the operations of its Healthcare Solutions Division (HSD) with First Coast. This combination will provide Keane HSD with AS/400 capabilities, expanding its service and product offerings.
