Brocade and Amdahl Sign Worldwide OEM Agreement
Brocade Communications Systems Inc. and Amdahl Corporation have entered into a worldwide OEM agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Amdahl has selected BROCADE as a supplier of Fibre Channel fabric switches for Amdahl storage area networking solutions. Amdahl will use the BROCADE SilkWorm 2100, SilkWorm 2400 and SilkWorm 2800 switches to provide scalable networking connectivity in conjunction with Amdahl's LVS 4800 and 4600 Open Systems Storage products, Amdahl's Platinum/400 Storage Subsystem and Amdahl's line of server solutions.
The BROCADE SilkWorm family of switches and software connects servers with storage devices through a Fibre Channel storage area network (SAN) and allows companies to access and share storage in a high-performance, manageable and scalable environment. The BROCADE switches will provide high-speed, scalable connectivity in SAN fabric environments for Amdahl customers. With BROCADE switches, Amdahl will provide a scalable, reliable SAN environment to support business-critical applications such as storage consolidation, enterprise backup and clustering.
