NewWave Technologies (Gaithersburg, Md.) announced this week it will now distribute IBM’s Optical Storage product line as part of NewWave’s line of document imaging and mass storage solutions.
The IBM C-Series 3995 Optical Storage Line consists of five library models with a broad range of storage capabilities. Each model includes configuration flexibility with options for additional internal drives on most library models. The 3995 C-Series can support AS/400, S/390, LAN and open system environments when combined with the appropriate software.
Steve Corio, IBM Storage Channel Manager, said the distribution agreement with NewWave will strengthen both companies’ position in the market.
“Combining IBM’s hardware and reputation for service and support with NewWave’s knowledge and reseller account base in the imaging market is a win-win situation for both companies,” Corio said.
With Extended Multifunctional Optical Drives, users can choose from among three types of media: rewritable media for information requiring frequent updates, MO WORM (Write Once Read Many) for archived data and True WORM for sensitive data that requires enhanced security. IBM is the only manufacturer to offer True WORM technology in a 5.25” optical form that provides fail-safe data integrity by permanently altering the surface of the media. IBM also provides a full one-year (24 x 7) warranty for the 3995 C-Series at no additional cost.
