Perle, Renex Partners to Enhance Affinity 5250

Perle Systems (Toronto) has added TN5250e client software to its Affinity 5250 software and hardware product suite through a partnership with Renex Corp. (Woodbridge, Va.). Under terms of the agreement, Perle will now bundle a solution that includes Renex BlueZone TN5250e terminal emulation software, Affinity IP over Twinax software and Affinity 5250 emulation adapters.

“We have made these special bundles available in direct response to market demand,” says Sean O’Donovan, VP of worldwide marketing at Perle. “Many of our customers have expressed a desire to purchase TN5250e clients along with their Affinity products they need to deploy IP over Twinax connections for their desktop PC users. Now they can do this, using top quality products at a truly cost-effective process.”

Renex BlueZone TN5250e Client allows PC users to access the AS/400 over IP connections. For Perle, the partnership gives them the ability to offer its customers a full end-to-end solution.

In the past, customers who wanted to access IP-based applications (Internet, extranets, etc.) on their Twinax-attached PCs would have to purchase a TN5250e client from another company. The TN5250e bundles from Perle also give PC users the ability to access both IP and AS/400 applications using existing Twinax cabling.

“It’s a natural fit for the two products,” says Steve Bireley, VP of engineering for Renex. “Affinity world class adapters and 5250 TCP/IP coupled with BlueZone state-of-the-art TN5250e Client software provides the first complete Twinax to IP product offering on the market.”
