SAP, IBM & HP Expand Alliance
SAP, IBM and HP have entered several co-developments, aimed at expanding their respective markets. SAP customers who prefer both the DB2 Universal Database and HP-UX servers will no longer have to choose between the two. Companies installing my SAP.com solutions with UNIX-based application servers will now have the flexibility to choose DB2 Universal Database as their database server for HP-9000 Enterprise Servers running HP-UX 11. First availability of mySAP.com solutions with SAP R/3 release 4.6C and DB2 Universal Database 7.1 on the HP platforms is planned for the fourth quarter of 2000.
In December, SAP announced it had adopted DB2 Universal Database as a strategic development and production platform, and that DB2 would replace Oracle as the primary database on UNIX and Linux platforms for internal development and production systems within SAP. This announcement extends that statement of support from SAP to include DB2 running on HP platforms.
