Looking to gain a larger piece of the growing wireless Internet market, SEAGULL (Atlanta) has announced its new Wireless-to-Host solution, version 2.0. This server-based solution enables organizations to rapidly extend their back-office legacy applications to wireless devices.
Wireless-to-Host 2.0 provides access to back-office applications in real time, enabling mobile workers to streamline the sales process, enhancing customer service while also cutting infrastructure and process costs. In addition, Wireless-to-Host can be used for areas such as courier and trucking processes, stock portfolio management, and real-time inventory monitoring and replenishment.
“SEAGULL’s Wireless-to-Host solution is designed to help organizations open up back-office business applications and extend them to the digital economy’s latest access devices such as wireless phones and PDAs,” says Don Addington, president of SEAGULL’s American operations.
The SEAGULL Wireless-to-Host solution includes a developer’s kit, wireless server and optional wireless professional services, and it supports any Internet-enabled wireless phone and Internet-enabled PDA, such as Palm VII.
Release 2.0 of SEAGULL’s Wireless-to-Host solution is planned to ship in June 2000; pricing is server-based, starting at approximately $30,000.
