MTI & VERITAS Form Development Partnership

MTI Technology Corp. and VERITAS Software Corporation have formed a broad strategic relationship to include joint-development and certification agreements that combine MTI and VERITAS Software's complementary talents and resources.

The partnership creates a comprehensive value-enhanced offering of products and services, delivering a series of next-generation Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions that simplifies data management to improve customers' data center efficiency.

The agreement includes joint marketing and development programs designed to enhance the value of MTI's existing DataServices portfolio -- particularly in the areas of data replication, backup and data management -- through the addition of VERITAS Software technology. Establishing the foundation applications for its key storage management products and services, MTI intends to integrate combinations of several high-availability VERITAS Software products, including VERITAS Cluster Server, VERITAS Foundation Suite, VERITAS NetBackup, VERITAS Storage Appliance and VERITAS Storage Replicator, with its line of Vivant enterprise storage solutions.

To help speed the deployment of new storage management solutions, MTI and VERITAS Software intend to conduct cross-certification testing and have announced that the RAID component of MTI's Vivant enterprise storage solutions is currently fully certified on VERITAS Cluster Server and VERITAS Foundation Suite.

"SAN and NAS solutions are meeting the performance and scalability needs of customers," says John McArthur, Vice President of Storage Research at IDC. "Storage software, meanwhile, improves data availability and ease of management. The MTI and VERITAS Software joint partnership is designed to allow IT professionals, including the increasing number of Linux users, to benefit from more complete storage solutions."
