Lawson’s ijob to Offer Real-Time Background Checks

Joanna Doyle

Employers using ijob e-recruitment service from Lawson Software (St. Paul, Minn.) will now have the added reassurance of instant background-checking for job candidates, thanks to a new alliance between Lawson and James E. Van Ella (JEV), a Chicago-based employment background investigation service.

The alliance will allow Lawson’s ijob customers to access JEV’s Background Now service, which screens candidates’ social security, employment and credit histories in real time. Recruiters generally receive their results via e-mail within five minutes. JEV also offers national and state criminal database searches and professional license verification. All transactions conducted via the ijob integration with JEV are fully secured and encrypted.

“Hiring a new employee carries with it some degree of risk that can be effectively managed through pre-employment screening,” says Larry Dunivan, general manager of Lawson’s ijob business unit. “By teaming with JEV for its Background Now service, recruiters using ijob can find out in just a few minutes if a candidate passes a preliminary background check.”

The integrated product is scheduled for release July 31.
