SilverStream Enables Quick Deployment of E-Commerce Applications
Jim Martin
E-business application provider SilverStream Software, Inc. (Billerica, Mass.) has made another addition to its suite of products with the introduction of xCommerce. This new family of B2B integration server products leverages the power of XML, enabling companies to quickly build, integrate and deploy powerful e-commerce applications.
Generally available, xCommerce enables business analysts and developers to use XML to combine online business applications with legacy systems and data - and extend these applications across organizations and their external trading communities. It helps companies streamline B2B processes by managing enterprise applications and transactions across extended supply chains.
xCommerce consists of the following products: xCommerce Designer--a highly visual XML development and integration environment that enables business analysts to quickly define customized trading relationships without extensive programming; xCommerce Server--a Java framework for XML integration deployment and management; xCommerce Enterprise Enablers-- a suite of adapters that provide XML-based enablement of business systems running on a variety of platforms, including the AS/400.
"As the Internet becomes the essential medium for conducting electronic business, enterprises require advanced solutions for quickly building online B2B marketplaces," said Fred Holahan, vice president and general manager of SilverStream Software's B2B Solutions division. "xCommerce provides trading partners with visual XML software tools that address essential time-to-market requirements, delivering the application scalability, connectivity and system fault-tolerance required by mission critical B2B applications."
