Perle Systems (Westmont Ill.) has released what they are describing as a more cost-efficient WAN Router, which will combine the functions of a modular WAN router with an integrated IP serial server or Twinax terminal server, as well as support for Voice over IP (VoIP).

LinkStream2000 features two leased line connections, eight standard integrated RS232 RJ45 IP terminal server ports for dial-in support, multiple function slots for up to 24 serial ports, 14 Twinax devices and full-featured field installable software.

“The Perle LinkStream2000 provides an efficient and cost-effective solution for remote users that want to connect a mix of Ethernet LAN and dial-up connections, locally attached serial and terminal devices, printers and voice connections over a wide area network (WAN),” says Sean O’Donovan, vice president of worldwide marketing for Perle.

LinkStream2000 is available immediately and is priced from $1,495.
