Magic Adds WAP Support

Magic Software Enterprises (Irvine, Calif.) has announced its Web-based eService and eMerchant applications will now support Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), in an effort to better serve customer demand for mobile e-business (mBusiness) capability.
WAP support for eService will allow customers to check the status of service requests and can provide service managers with real-time information and alerts through any WAP-enabled mobile device. EMerchant offers highly personalized order processing, confirmation and tracking capability, all of which the company hopes to make faster and more efficient with the addition of WAP support.
Magic contends its applications are particularly well suited for integrated WAP support, because the multi-tier architecture of both eService and eMerchant enables separation of business logic from the Web content and client interface. This allows a new mobile client interface to be defined without changing existing application logic.
“As easily as Magic can merge with HTML or XML pages, it also can support WML pages for use on WAP devices,” says Jack Dunietz, CEO of Magic. “This represents a clear advantage over competing technologies, and enables us to easily offer our Web-based solution with WAP support.”
