TurboLinux Ships Operating System Tuned for Oracle8i

TurboLinux has announced it is shipping the TurboLinux DataServer Optimized for Oracle 8i. The product functions as a database server for workgroups and as a database application deployment platform.

The TurboLinux operating system has been optimized to boost performance of Oracle 8i with features such as 4 GB RAM addressable space, support for raw I/O devices, an integrated Java Runtime Environment, and MetroLink Motif 2.1.

Pricing is $2,5000 and includes 60 days of installation support from TurboLinux via telephone or the Web.

In late July, San Francisco-based TurboLinux launched a DataServer optimized for IBM DB2 Universal Database.

One of the leading Linux vendors, TurboLinux also provides clustering solutions for Linux and was the first Linux distributor to run a functioning, hardware-compatible version of its Linux operating system on servers powered by Intel's forthcoming 64-bit Itanium processor.
