Bluestone Software (Philadelphia), an AS/400-relevant provider of business-to-Web and wireless technologies, has been selected by Euro Sales Finance (ESF) to power the asset financing market's first dedicated Web portal. ESF is the European market leader in assetfinancing for the SME (Small to Medium-sized Enterprise) sector--thefunding of transactions for which assets are converted into workingcash in exchange for a security interest in those assets.

Through the agreement, EFS will use Bluestone's Total-e-Business platform to provide a secure trading environment for the virtual business community. Bluestone's Total-e-Business is a fully integrated e-business platform that is highly-scalable, fault-tolerant, supports WAP applications and offers proven 24x7x365 functionality.

The portal will allow ESF's 600 SME clients to input transactions or take extracts from their propriety accounting systems and load these directly into ESF's factoring system via the Web. The online service will dramatically improve the efficiency of the factoring cycle because cash flow between trading partners can be tracked much more efficiently.

"After such a long search for the right provider, we found that there was nothing else quite like Bluestone's Total-e-Business platform. As the financial sector becomes increasingly competitive, it is essential to employ reliable best-of-breed technology to maintain competitive advantage,” says Lee Kingshott, director of IT at ESF. "Our customers are looking for us to assist them in the smooth running of their businesses. We will be able to achieve this by deploying Bluestone's enabling technology. The portal will be accessible through all electronic delivery channels and WAP."
