Data availability solution provider VERITAS Software Corp. (Mountain View, Calif.) is bringing HP-UX platform support to Version 1.1 of VERITAS Global Cluster Manager and Version 3.1 of VERITAS Volume Replicator.

VERITAS Global Cluster Manager enables users to move applications running at a primary site to a geographically remote secondary site, while maintaining access to critical information through the continuous replication of data between sites. By consolidating management of HP-UX and Sun Solaris clusters, the solution optimizes server uptime.

The other solution, VERITAS Volume Replicator, enables disaster recovery solutions over local or wide area networks. It mirrors data to remote locations over any IP network, allowing companies to optimize costs of secondary site equipment.

By integrating these two products, HP-UX customers will be able to maximize application uptime worldwide from a single console. "We recognize that helping our customers devise a business continuity plan is critical to sustaining their own customer loyalty, initiating a quick recovery and reducing losses," says Robin Purohit, senior director of product management for Clustering, Replication and SAN. "VERITAS Software is committed to addressing the rapidly maturing needs of its eBusiness customers by offering disaster recovery solutions that ensure smooth global operations."

VERITAS Volume Replicator will be available in October 2000 for HP-UX for a suggested retail price starting at $9,000. VERITAS Global Cluster Manager will be available for HP-UX in Q1 2001 for a suggested retail price starting at $10,000 per managed VERITAS Cluster Server cluster.
