Axis Communications Group (Lund, Sweden), a provider of network connectivity and emerging wireless Internet-based services, has announced the availability of the AXIS 5470e Copier print server, an extension of the company’s host-to-LAN print server family. The server enables full advantage of a networked digital copier’s finishing options in IBM AS/400 and S/390 environments.
"We are very pleased to be able to offer this unique solution for printing in mixed environments," says Inge Persson, product manager at Axis Communications. "The many users who are replacing their analog copiers with digital devices can now share finishing options across the network."
The 5470e, with support for native IBM system data streams and protocols, works without the need for application changes, host-based conversion software, or intermediate servers. The bi-directional communication between printer and IBM host allows true end-to-end management and control, as well as the ability to monitor and print jobs.
The AXIS 5470e Copier print server is available for $950, and carries a three-year warranty.
Axis Communications, with headquarters in Sweden, has offices throughout North America, Asia, and Europe.
