Unisys, Hewlett-Packard Extend Relationship with OEM Agreement
Unisys Corporation and Hewlett-Packard Company have signed an OEM agreement extending the relationship of the two companies. Under terms of the agreement, HP will market an HP NetServer 32-way system based on the Unisys Cellular MultiProcessing (CMP) server architecture and is expected to be available in early 2001.
Unisys sells CMP based servers under the Unisys e-@ction Enterprise Server ES7000 brand. Unisys has sold HP PCs and entry-level PC servers under the "HP for Unisys" label since mid-1998.
"By extending our relationship with Unisys, HP will expand our ability to deliver a solution to our customers who require the highest level of performance, availability, and stability on an industry standard platform," said Webb McKinney, Vice-President and General Manager of HP's PC Organization.
Says George Gazerwitz, Executive Vice President, Unisys Corporation. "The CMP architecture has been extremely well received by the market since the product introductions earlier this year. This agreement with HP is a further endorsement of our CMP architecture, a recognition of CMP's unprecedented ability to satisfy the industry's most demanding requirements for performance and scalability with solutions based on industry-standard Microsoft and Intel technology. It builds on a solid, complementary relationship we already have with Hewlett-Packard, which supplies us with high-quality PCs and entry-level servers."
