IBM Life Sciences Forms Global Consulting Practice
IBM will expand its reach into the fast-growing life sciences marketplace by establishing a consulting practice within its Global Services organization.
The Global Life Sciences Consulting and Solutions practice will help biotech and pharmaceutical research and development organizations use information technology to accelerate the development of new medical treatments. Existing and future life sciences partners will now be able to benefit from IBM's expertise in consulting, systems integration and strategic outsourcing in the areas of data management, knowledge management and e-business services.
IBM is developing a portfolio of solutions and services to help customers create environments for drug discovery and clinical development. The initial suite of offerings includes knowledge management, data management and integration, clinical trial e-enablement and hosting services. The new consulting group's offerings, which will be available worldwide, will be rolled out in phases across the pharmaceutical R&D and biotechnology sectors.
