ShowCase Releases New Tool for Creating Financial Reports
ShowCase has developed a financial reporting tool that promises more timely, detailed financial reports.
The Financial Reporting Application Template leverages familiar spreadsheet applications, but stores data and calculation formulas in a central database. By doing so, users are expected to more easily be able to get detailed information about individual line items.
While the offering is primarily intended for employees in the finance department of an organization, it is also being positioned as effective for meeting the information needs of investors and other corporate stakeholders.
Built on ShowCase’s data warehousing and business intelligence software solutions, the template supports integration with most major ERP systems. Thus, there is no need to re-key data when generating financial reports.
The template is specifically designed for ShowCase’s Essbase/400, an online analytical processing solution for the IBM AS/400. Essbase/400 recognizes business rules and can perform calculations such as year-to-date totals and variances for expense and revenue items.
Once information has been loaded into the database, financial staff can use the template to access, rearrange and analyze data.
