BEA, Gauss Partner to Bring WebLogic to iSeries

E-business infrastructure provider BEA Systems Inc. has reached a strategic partnership with content-management specialists Gauss Interprise that is designed to bring BEA’s WebLogic middleware offering to approximately 1,000 IBM iSeries users.

As part of the agreement, Gauss will embed WebLogic in its VIP Enterprise products, and offer its U.S. base of more than 1,000 primarily IBM iSeries customers an upgrade to VIP Enterprise built on the BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform.

VIP Enterprise is an enterprise content management system for the iSeries platform.

"We have an established base of predominantly IBM iSeries-based document management customers who are looking to Web-enable their document assets as part of their enterprise content management initiatives," said Ron Vangell, president of Gauss in a statement.

"Our integration with BEA enables Gauss to offer a single solution that replaces what could potentially be costly implementations using multiple vendor products and a variety of integration services, with a world-class enterprise content management platform. Customers will enjoy the cost savings benefits provided by a tightly integrated `BEA ready' solution out of the box."

WebLogic supports the Java 2 Enterprise Edition standard, which gives Gauss the ability to quickly develop and deploy its integrated portal, Web-content, document and workflow-management solutions on one Java-powered platform. The Gauss VIP platform is intended to optimize content creation, collaboration and control of business processes throughout an extended enterprise.

Through BEA’s Star Partner Program, Gauss will participate with BEA in joint marketing, sales training, education and technical development for this joint offering.
