ClientSoft Rolls out ClientBuilder 7.5
Latest version includes support for open systems.
Improving features that help developers do their job, ClientSoft Inc. introduced the latest version of its ClientBuilder host integration tool. In addition, it has added support for open systems.
ClientBuilder 7.5 is a set of tools for building screen-based applications that can be moved out on the Web or published as Web services. ClientSoft says the screen-based approach obviates the need to re-engineer connectors when legacy applications change.
One of the most significant additions to the latest version of ClientBuilder is VT100 support, which allows ClientBuilder server to connect to machines running Unix versions such as IBM's AIX, as well as to Linux systems. ClientBuilder already supports the TN3270 and TN5250 terminal standards for connections to IBM's proprietary systems.
ClientSoft also expanded features that enhance the usability of ClientBuilder. ClientSoft has merged its development modules into a single IDE, giving developers a single point of access for all of the tools needed for an integration project.
The new version includes expanded collaboration features. The "Teamwork" option tracks changes in the code, allowing developers to work on the same project while ensuring its integrity.
Finally, ClientSoft added a number of configuration tools to speed development time, particularly for projects running on Windows. Version 7.5 offers a Windows setup wizard, integration with Windows services and a consolidated configuration console.
