PeopleSoft Pre-Configured on IBM eSeries Servers
Combined effort is targeted specifically at the so-called mid-market, small- and medium-sized businesses.
IBM's midsize business division is now offering pre-configured servers running IBM's DB2 database and middleware products alongside business software from PeopleSoft. The combined effort is targeted specifically at the so-called mid-market, small- and medium-sized businesses, where there are estimated to be as many as 62,000 companies with greater than $300 million annual revenue.
"The reason for pre-configuring systems is to strip out costs and complexities for midsize companies," said Jeff Read, vice president and general manager of mid-market software at PeopleSoft.
Known as PeopleSoft Accelerated Solutions, the product is designed to be rapidly deployed and affordable for small- and medium-sized businesses. The fixed-price solutions include PeopleSoft Internet-based applications, technical and end-user training, and implementation services. The first product is PeopleSoft Accelerated Customer Relationship Management; it's being offered by IBM on pre-configured eServer (xSeries or pSeries) machines that include DB2 database software. IBM Global Services will deliver implementation services for various PeopleSoft applications starting with CRM.
In the near future, HR, financials and other applications will also be made available through this program.
