StorageTek Updates Library Management Software

StorageTek unveiled its newest version of its automated library management software, Automated Cartridge System Library Software (ACSLS) version 6.1. The company says the software improves overall performance, security and increased reporting capabilities across a variety of platforms, including IBM MVS, IBM AS/400, Unix and Windows NT (Intel and DEC Alpha).
Version 6.1 offers the ability to retrieve information about objects (tape volumes, drives and libraries) through a new display command that supports wildcards, ranges and selection lists. ACSLS software client systems can be automatically notified of library events (such as when volumes are added or deleted), library hardware errors and library status changes.
A new configuration utility lets you add, delete or replace drives without any system downtime.
